Standing In Faith
Are you guarding your thoughts?
This is something that takes diligence.
It’s not always easy. I know.
It’s Been A Tough Week
Our dear friends Dennie and Sondra Guy ended up over in Denver Children’s Hospital with their baby Josiah, who had bleeding on his brain.
What a week it has been clinging to God’s promises and learning to choose to stand in faith.
They flew Josiah over last Monday night October 7th.
Tuesday evening another friend called me and said things weren’t looking good but we are going to stand in faith.
James and I were in Grand Junction and we went into Sam’s Club to shop right after that call.
That call shook me. The struggle was real. I partnered with fear.
Choosing Faith Over Fear
I glanced at my phone during shopping and saw a message from Sondra saying,
“We will NOT stand in agreement with what the doctors were saying.”
They were sticking to what God had shown them.
She was given Josiah’s name before she even knew she was pregnant with him.
Josiah means, “God supports and heals.”
For them this is a promise they are standing on.
Their Faith Spurred Me On
I repented of partnering with fear.
Then I cast the spirit of fear out and asked God to show me
what He sees for Josiah.
I saw in my mind a picture of all Josiah’s family surrounding him
while praising and worshiping God.
Josiah was held in the hands of God and He was breathing life into Josiah.
After sketching this out the next day, I text a picture of it to Sondra.
This brought her so much encouragement.
Why Am I Sharing All Of This?
Because it’s so important that we guard our thoughts.
I spiraled down after the call because I was bombarded with “what if’s.”
Because of Sondra’s text stating what they were standing on, I changed my focus.
Instead of fears of “what if” I chose, whatever is good, pure, and lovely think on such things. Phil 4:8
I feel like the more I fill my mind with these things that are good, pure, and lovely
and focus on them, the quicker I recognize thoughts that aren’t of God.
When you have done all things then STAND. Eph 6: 10-13
This takes resolution and dedication.
A constant awareness that I’m staying focused on God.
Unwavering.
Thank goodness there is grace abounding, because I get to work on focus.
I don’t know about you, but that’s a challenge to me.
Another Thing
I know I mention this a lot but we need community.
It’s so easy to fall into the trap of secluding oneself.
If one is weak, another is strong and we can lift each other
up in times of weakness.
When we’re real with our friends and family…those we trust,
they know how we want to live and will call us back up to that standard.
We’re not meant to walk through this life alone.
“Things” break down in our life when there’s separation from self, God, and others.
I invite you to guard your thoughts.
Let’s stand together in this.
