It’s Wonderful To Be A Mom!

Each kid is a beautiful unique gift that keeps unfolding as the years go on.

I love being an advocate for them in their relationships, interests and passions. What a joy to watch as they explore the world around them.

I love to watch my kids try new things and see how they react to it.

I Was Thinking of Each Girl’s Journey…

I’m beyond delighted to introduce each of our girls to you!

Grace is our oldest at 17 years old.

She has always loved participating on the family ranch. Riding horses, moving cows and being outside.

However, she does have an aversion to machinery. She’d rather ride something that has a brain. “Two minds are better than one!” -Grace

Grace did play basketball for one season when she was 8 years old. It was fun but she didn’t have an interest in continuing.

Horses are one of her passions. She has been riding what I call “man sized days”  with James since she was nine years old.

Grace is tough and persistent in completing whatever task is set before her.

I have the best picture of her when she was three and she’s showing me how a cowboy stands.

This was after she gave me the run down on what a cowboy wears. So stinkin’ cute.

Grace also loves history and is intrigued with weaponry, specifically swords and archery.

Currently she helps on the ranch when needed, she works at a horse stable/riding arena, babysits once a week and keeps up with her hefty load of school work.

She’s also an avid reader, which is incredible since she struggles with dyslexia.

Our Sunshine.

Our Naomi is 15 years old and a freshman in high school.

She also loves to help out on the ranch.  It’s really been in the last two years that her confidence horseback has grown.

She tried out volleyball for one season and she had a good team that she enjoyed playing with. However she didn’t want to continue with it the next year.

Her top passion is cooking and she is mostly self-taught.

I showed her how to read a recipe and the rest is history!

Learning from cooking shows online and attending a summer cooking class at a nearby college has boosted her knowledge.

Her dream is to own her own bakery.

Naomi is quite excited about art and sketching animae. Her talent continues to grow.  

She draws daily and shares this gift freely with others.

The other day at our home school coop she sketched a picture of a woman walking a dog, for one of the kids making a poster with VET in bold on it.

Naomi has always been a passionate girl.

No matter what she was feeling or doing it was 110%!

She knows what she wants and goes at it with all she has.

Unafraid to be herself, she’s strong and confident. I love that about her.

Feisty Is As Feisty Does.

Faith is feisty for sure. She is a go getter and wants to be operating above her level at all times.

For example when she first learned to walk she thought she would be able to keep up with her two older sisters.

She would stand and walk towards them as they’re running past her.

She would try to stop, turn, and go after them. Falling to the ground, she would release a growl of determination before she stood back up.

It was so funny. I could tell she thought she should be able to keep up with them.

Faith, who is 13 and in the 7th grade, is incredibly active and loves sports.

She played volleyball last fall and is wrapping up her basketball season.

Not only active in sports, she also loves to ride and help move cattle. It’s awesome to see all the girls riding with their dad.

Faith is unique in that her mind must be busy.

One summer she was fighting with her sisters and bugging them on a constant basis.

She was unhappy and quite frankly, she was driving me crazy.

Unsure of what to do, I soon realized she needed something to challenge her mind.

On Timberdoodle I found a great workbook full of puzzles, riddles and hands on projects.

Once she had that in hand and something to focus on and keep her mind busy, she was happy and everyone around her was happy!

It will be exciting to see what she does after high school graduation.

I love her sense of justice and seeing things in black and white. She also incredibly fun and will hopefully keep that kid like adventurous spirit.

Our Little Performer.

Next is our sweet Sarah. She is 11 now and quite the go getter.

Singing, dancing and performing for anyone who’ll watch has been her M.O. since she was tiny.

Any raised, flat surface instantly became her stage to sing and perform on. I even found her on top of the horse trailer once singing her heart out.

Right now gymnastics is her passion and she’s a natural at it!  

She started the summer she was 9 years old. This spring will be her second season of competition.

Sarah’s dream is to go to the Olympics. I believe her bold fearlessness will see her achieve her dream. She’s so fun to watch.

Sarah also loves to ride horses and help move cattle on the ranch!

In spite of a couple of different accidents with her horse, she is brave and is back in the saddle again helping out.

This year Sarah is in fourth grade at our local Montessori school.

She’s growing in her ability to write stories and she loves the frequent field trips that her class goes on.

Last But Definitely Not Least.

Rachel is 7 years old and well beyond her years.

With four older sisters she has quite a grasp on different things her sisters didn’t at that at her age. Her heart is so big for people.

She can tell when someone can use a hug and she gives the best hugs.

Making those around her feel loved comes naturally to her.

Rachel loves to ride horses too and was determined to ride all by herself before she could even control a horse!

The other day she was so cute.

She came and plopped down on my bed and said, “Faith is like a basketball girl, she’s so good at playing basketball!

Grace is like a rider and she loves horses. Naomi is a cook and Sarah is a gymnast.

I’m nothing. There’s nothing that I mostly do.”

I told her that at 7 years old that her older sisters hadn’t found a particular passion yet and that she has gifts and talents that she’ll discover.

Now is a time to explore and try all kinds of new things to see what she enjoys doing. At this point she replied with a laugh, “well, it’s sure not reading!”

Sisterly Advice.

Right then Grace walked in and I told Rachel, just ask Grace, she didn’t enjoy reading at your age.

In fact it was very difficult because of her dyslexia.

Rachel started laughing so hard she fell over.  I asked her what I had missed.

Grace filled me in.

Grace and Rachel share a room. So one night Rachel wouldn’t go to sleep and was telling Grace how much she disliked reading.

Her older sister’s reply/advice was, “don’t worry, someday reading will be so easy it’ll be just like pooping!”

I laughed so hard.

I love that Grace was helping Rachel and it cracks me up how she communicated with her with something Rachel could relate to. What a riot!

Rachel is tough and yet very tender.

Playing games is a favorite of hers so we try to come up with fun games for most of her schooling.

She wants to keep up with her sisters.

When she was three she would tell everyone she was five because at that time Sarah was five. Rachel is a fun girl.

It’s Such A Delight To Be A Mom.

Our girls are a constant joy! Each girl is a unique and wild beauty inside and out! Just like a beautiful flower.

What a joy it is to create the space for each kid to explore life, try new things and then help them to run after a passion of their choosing.

This mama adventure is one of the best I’ve ever been on!

I know you understand what I’m talking about.

Enjoy your kids this week and all the treasure that they are and the joy they bring to your life.

I believe each and every person is a beautiful masterpiece of God, who is the Great Artist.
