First Aid For The Summer

Do you have a fully loaded first aid kit for this summer?

I don’t know about your family but we love to go camping, swimming, biking, and hiking.

Plus there’s all the ranch work to be done.

Quick cattle drive to get our cows away from the neighbors bull! I told the girls to get ready in a hurry so they’re not in the usual cowgirl getup. Shorts and some flip flops. Hahaha!

There are so many fun things available to do in the summer.

All activities have their possible dangers along with the fun.

That’s why we take our first aid kit along.

Then we’re prepared for stings, cuts, bruises, and even shock from trauma.

We have a typical first aid kit with the usual medical supplies.

Our Added Bonus

Now we have an added bonus to our first aid kit, and that’s our essential oil first aid kit.

Getting the Desk Reference For Pure Therapeutic Essential Oils is a must!

I copied the pages from my Desk Reference and placed them in my first aid bag along with my oils.

I don’t have to remember what each oil is used for because it’s all right there!

The following are tidbits about each of the oils I carry in my first aid kit.

The information that follows was taken from the Desk Reference For Pure Therapeutic Essential Oil, by Dana Clay Young PhD Version 2.1, with permission from Be Young Total Health LLC.

(Anything below under the different oils that’s in italics is my interjection. The rest is from the desk reference)

Peppermint

The first oil in our kit is peppermint.

Peppermint is good for:

Pain, minimizing bruises, and headaches.

You can put a drop on your forehead, temples, and the back of your neck.

Interestingly, peppermint has the same frequency as your brain. When your brain’s frequency is off, peppermint brings it back to the right level.

For gastrointestinal problems-place  a drop on your tongue.

Hot Flashes-drop on back of your neck or in your drinking water.

Bee Stings-works fast, drop on sting, tap and blow on it.

Eucalyptus

The next oil is Eucalyptus.

Use it for sinus infections. Apply straight or 50/50 across the bridge of your nose.

Cold and flu- one drop to wrist and forearm back and forth every hour.

Rub on your chest.

In the Desk Reference there are several more ways to use Eucalyptus

Tea Tree

We also include Tea Tree.

This one is great for bacterial infections.

Use it in scrapes and cuts to keep them from getting infected. Use straight.

For sore gums and molars apply 3x daily.

For four more ways to use Tea Tree grab your copy of the kindle version of the desk reference here.

Geranium

Geranium is an incredible oil.

Apply to cuts and scrapes-sutures the skin, heals emotions and stops bleeding.

Use for emotional upset and trauma/shock-calms you down.

Marjoram

Apply marjoram to sore leg and arm muscles after working out.

Are you having a hard time sleeping?

Place this oil at the back of your neck for a restful nights sleep.

Mother’s in transitional stage to move to the next stage; apply it to your forehead and inhale to help you move into the next stage.

Lavender

It is the “Universal Oil” for healing.

You can use this oil on burns, scrapes, for sleeping, and shock.

It provides allergy relief.

Regenerates cells and thread veins(spider veins), bruises, cuts, sores, scars, and stretch marks.

There is a whole page of uses for this oil.

Lavender is an all around healing oil. Both for physical wounds and emotional.

We’ve already had first sunburns of the season.

I like to use a combination of  peppermint and lavender to ease the pain of a sunburn.

Just add one drop of peppermint and one drop of lavender to a quarter size squirt of your favorite lotion.

Mix thoroughly and rub on your burn.  Be sure to avoid your eyes!

Helichrysum

Our go to oil for stings is helichrysum.

Within minutes the burn from a sting is gone.

No more tears and we’re back to fun!

Helichrysum is a pain killer.

A few weeks ago Sarah wrecked her bike in the driveway and had some serious road rash on her ankle.

That night it hurt too much for her to go to sleep.

I mixed several drops of carrier oil with one drop of helichrysum and put it on the wound and around it. It killed the pain and she slept like normal.

This is a great oil!

Sarah’s ankle is nearly healed up from a bike wreck.

Physical Touch

A great go to for bumps and bruises is Physical Touch oil blend.

Summer Is Loaded With Fun

We love camping, caving, hiking, and biking.

So far this year we’re planning on camping, hiking and James takes the girls on a yearly caving trip with their Uncle Justin.

It’s going to be a wonderful summer.

I hope you get great value from this information and that it helps you through your summer adventures.

Hopefully you’ll have no need of your first aid kit this summer, but if it is needed, you’ll be prepared.

Have a great summer!

Drop in the comments what adventures you have planned this summer.

I’d love to hear from you.

Blessings!
