Word Pictures Work
What does repaving a road have to do with your life?
Let me take you back in my journey to make the connection.
For the last two years I’ve been on a journey of entrepreneurship.
I’ve always loved it and I was raised in business because my folks are entrepreneurs.
You could say, “It’s in my blood.”
I pursued different businesses before we had kids and a while after the older two were born.
I set my business dreams aside for years to focus on raising our littles which is a full time biz in itself.
A New Season
We’re in a whole new season of life now and we’re looking to create another source of income.
Two years ago we went to Lurn Masters to get a start on an internet biz that I can do from home and still be with the girls.
I’ve been taking action, following mentors, taking more classes, and serving at LM classes in DC.
Massive growth and stretching!
Sometimes the results don’t come as quickly as I’d like or how I’d like but I keep pressing on and continuing to grow myself.
I keep data on my business so I can learn from my results and tweak things and keep moving forward.
Confession time…
Recently I saw someone who looked to me like they had succeeded super fast and had immediate results. I was happy for them and gave a hearty congrats.
BUT
I had a moment of struggle, why wasn’t I seeing massive results yet?
That’s real.
But my mindset training kicked in.
I felt a check and chose to say no to that pang of jealousy and recognize that I didn’t know that person’s background, what they had been through and how many years of “struggle” and learning they had gone through to realize their success.
I took a breath and looked back on all I’ve learned and my personal growth, I patted myself on the back and celebrated my wins.
Looking forward to my goal, I got excited because I know what I want to do and I’m taking steps towards it everyday.
It’s About So Much More
I’m learning to love the journey and trust the process rather than focusing only on the win.
At the beginning of June the road in front of our house went under construction.
It took weeks to grind up the old asphalt, lay a foundation of dirt and large rocks, smooth it and lay a layer of small gravel on top of that.
A small section was done each week until they reached the end of the road.
Now it’s settling and they’re waiting to pave it.
I don’t know how long it will be until it’s paved.
This Is A Great Visual
It struck me that my journey is much like this road.
There were things from my past to rip up and get rid of or grind until it was something useful.
Layer after layer is added on by training, courses, and mentor-ship to lay a new foundation for the pavement.
Also the longer the road traveled, the more there is to repave.
At 41 years old I have more “road to rip up” than a twenty year old.
It has to do with belief, and I had growing to do in my belief in God, myself, and others.
Each person’s journey looks different.
I’m getting solid, NOT comparing where I’m at to where others are!
It Truly Is A Life Of Freedom
I’m free to be me.
Free to create and live a life I love.
Remember
1. Journeys are unique, enjoy every step.
2. Don’t compare.
3. Celebrate wins, this stirs excitement.
4. Trust the Process.
5. With action comes clarity, so keep moving.
Before I publish this post I have a bit more to add.
The road is half paved now.
Laying the pavement is going quickly.
It’s ripping up the old road and laying the new foundation that takes the most time.
A realization hit me that “my road” is in the half paved stage.
I’ve been laying a new foundation with coaching and shifting my paradigms and now the progress will be quicker from here on out.
It is an encouragement to know where I’m at and not loose hope
Where are you in your journey?
Are you repaving your road too?
I hope this visual will be as helpful to you as it has been for me.
Stay encouraged!
Every stage of “repaving your road” is important.
Have a great week.
